Our Mission
Motivated by Jewish tradition and values, our mission is to harness the capabilities and creativity of the Australian Jewish community to accelerate the transition to a zero emissions world.
In 2019, the Jewish Climate Network was founded to fill that gap.
Our Story
We face a significant climate challenge.
Our Jewishness and humanity compel us to respond.
The impacts of our warming world and collapsing environment are worsening and well documented. We must rapidly transition to an emissions-free society this decade, with the bulk of the work needing to happen by 2030.
Climate change has already begun to exacerbate societal challenges in many areas that the Jewish community cares deeply about - such as education, health, human rights, equality and food security.
And yet, the vast potential and full potential of the Australian Jewish community has not been activated towards solving these challenges.
We are parents, teachers, doctors, rabbis, philanthropists, business owners, entrepreneurs, students and everyone in between – all united around our concern about the impacts of climate change and the risks it poses to our children and our community.
We are also excited about the benefits and opportunities of embracing clean energy, a cleaner and healthier future, and the role our community can play in bringing that future to fruition.
Since 2019, across over 100 events, in partnership with diverse community organisations, JCN has engaged over 10,000 community members towards its mission.
Our work includes political and community engagement, creating opportunities for investors and philanthropists to accelerate climate solutions, and delivering grassroots programs that empower the Jewish community to take solutions into their own hands.
JCN is an initiative of the Jewish Ecological Coalition (JECO).
